Road Trip | Saint Petersburg, FL

FLORIDA.  I love this place. Even bad days in this lovely state are better than anywhere else.

It has been several years since I have been able to take a vacation that wasn't centered around a family function. After being separated from my oldest son most of the summer, I knew that we had to end the summer with a family road trip! Labor Day Weekend was the perfect chance to get away. This past weekend, I took my first trip back to my father's home in Saint Petersburg, FL in five years. It was long overdue and I could hardly wait to share the experience with my kids and introduce them to this beautiful city. I live in a city where my children and I have no close relatives that we can spend time with on a regular basis. That can feel a little isolated at times. Our closest family is either 6 hours north of us in Birmingham.  Now that my kids are a little older it is easier to travel alone with them and it is definitely time that we start getting away from our city to see this big, wonderful world.

I was excited for us to visit with my father on the Florida coast. It warmed my heart so much to watch them play and interact with him. We could not come this far without visiting the beach. Our favorite way to spend any day is soaking up some sun and waves.

I've noticed that whenever we do hit the road, that we are always drawn to big bodies of water.

Saint Petersburg Beach did not disappoint in fun and beauty. Somehow waves of the ocean always seem to soften the hardest edges of my heart.

I do believe it's time for another adventure// My trip to Florida was just what my soul needed:: a long drive that ended with lots of laughs, hugs, and adventure with my family. Looking at this airplane has me dreaming of an adventure with the littles that is much further. I honestly can't think of a single reason to stay put which is even more reason to GO!
