Audiobooks I'm Lovin'
All of my life I have been an avid reader. It was a bit of a family thing growing up and as far back as I can remember books have always been a major part of daily living. Lately, I have been finding it more difficult to carve out time to sit down and sink into the pages of a book. There are so many other obligations that take the place of enjoying a good read.
Stories are fun to read and I love to hear a good one too, so I have found a cool and convenient way to get in a few books each month by using Amazon's Audible app. It has made it possible to complete a book in one to two days easily. If your schedule is jam packed like mine then you'll appreciate that you can download the audiobooks onto your smartphone or tablets to take them on the go. No lugging around a purse full of paperbacks. I'm a member of Prime and get access to tons of records every month with my membership. If you are not a member there is no need to worry because you can try out Audible for free with a one month trial.
My favorite way to wind down after a long week is with a cup of tea and listening to my audible app. And sometimes while I'm folding the laundry I can plug in the headphones and tune out the noise to complete a book. It is a great way to multitask.
Here are my favorite books that I've heard in the past few weeks:
The Five Love Languages Of Children
The Gist: Communicating With Each Of Your Children Effectively
This book deep dives into the different ways in which children give and receive love. The author's Gary Chapman and the late, Ross Campbell do a masterful job of describing the five love languages and helping the reader discover which one will yield the best results with your own children. I enjoyed listening to this narration and the biggest take away was that as a mother it is important to recognize that even though my children have one mother that they each have different personalities and needs from me. Changing how I approach certain situations will certainly strengthen our bond and make them healthier little people.
What I Know For Sure
The Gist: Joy, Resilience, Connection, Gratitude, Possibility, Awe, Clarity, & Power Come From Within The You.
It is no secret that Oprah Winfrey is one my favorite people in the entire world. She has been from a far a huge inspiration to me and this book of essays that she narrates so beautifully is one of the best books I own. It inspired my recent post on my thirty-fourth birthday. It is a very intimate glance into the heart of one of the world's most powerful and inspirational women. I have listened to it dozens of times in the last year and each time it sparks something in me that moves my heart to be the best person I can.
The Universe Has Your Back: Transform Fear to Faith
The Gist: Learn To Release Fear to Find Clarity & Happiness
According to Gabrielle Bernstein, "This book is about helping people find safety in the midst of uncertainty, power when they feel powerless, and love in a fearful world.' I must say that she certainly did achieve this goal. It has helped me to shift my focus in moments of doubt to push through the fear. It is a spiritual guide to helping me realize that anxiety has little power when I trust that everything is working for my good. It is a very easy-listen that makes you laugh and cry a little but mostly it will help you in taking back you life.
The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business
The Gist: A Scientific Look At How To Change & Maintain Habits
Small changes done routinely in a daily loop is what creates habits. This book takes a detailed look at how some people are able to make life-changing habits that benefit them in becoming more successful. The author, Charles Duhigg reminds us that “Small wins are a steady application of a small advantage.” Every little change for the better is going to get you closer to reaching the goal of having healthier and more successful habits. If you are wanting to change your life then this book is definitely a must read (or listen).
All of these books have been helpful for me and I hope that you'll take the time to listen to the audio soon. Also, check out this special offer for two free audible books when you create a new account.
