Detox Your Skin: Body
This winter has been unusually long and cold in Southeast Georgia. The weather can wreak havoc on your skin. Since, we’re all bundled up it is easy to ignore the dry parts of our body that really need extra attention. Your physical appearance can also make you feel dull mentally too. The fix for this is to try a detoxifying spa-like treatment. Pamper your skin that has taken the worst hit from the elements outside.
Today, I’m sharing some ways to get your body glowing and feel invigorated in the comfort of home.
Run a warm bath and add a few drops of lavender oil or olive oil plus 2-3 packets of powdered milk. The oils will moisturize while the milk simulataniously helps to exfoliate skin.
*Try a pre-made mix like Barr Co. Bubble Elixir at Anthropologie
Often hands, elbows, and your back are neglected and begin to show the first signs of aging. A body scrub will remove dead skin cells and reveal newer, fresher skin. This also prevents dry spots from forming.
*Try a Honey + Lavender Scrub Mix::
- 1/3 cup super fine granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 4-5 tablespoons coconut oil
- 10 drops lavender essential oil
Stir all ingredients together. This made exactly enough to fill a small 4 oz. mason jar/jelly jar. Store in a cool, dark place.
Lather up with a bar of soap made with natural ingredients that is a gentle enough to cleanse sensitive skin. The cold weather and dry heat from indoors has already caused enough damage. Massage your skin and rinse with lukewarm water to avoid even more dryness.
Winter damaged skin can totally benefit from the occasional mask to detox the body.
After a shower or bath, never rub your skin dry especially in winter. Leave it damp and layer on oils or moisterizing products because at this point the pores are open and can better absorb plus seal in moisture.
* Try Burt’s Bees Shea Butterepair Cream for smoother hands
This entire body detox can be done at home by mimicking a spa experience. It’s a real treat for exfoliating and hydrating. Stay tuned to see how you can take care of your face after this extended winter cold-snap.
I feel warmer days are calling! ☀️
