Summer 10x10 Challenge
Lately, I have been sharing about my commitment to practice slow-living and live minimally. A major part of this is how I style myself everyday. A few weeks ago, I discovered the 10x10 Capsule Challenge. It really sparked my interest because it is a true test of my creativity and loyalty to my curated closet.
I feel that I have accomplished a lot by just minimizing my wardrobe to 40 items. In all honesty, I've resorted to wearing the same outfits on hard-repeat. This is not terrible but it certainly isn't fun either. My current capsule has served it's initial purpose- helping me get the overflow of stuff under control, curbed my spending, set me on the path to joy by slow-living, and developed a personal style. Everything I currently own is a true reflection of me.
This year I want to take my wardrobe to the next level. So, I am starting the 10x10 Challenge tomorrow, July 27, 2018.

WHAT IS THE 10X10 CHALLENGE?
This is a wardrobe capsuling challenge created by StyleBee. Even though I just discovered her blog and worksheets recently, she has been an influence and inspired some of the changes that I am making to my closet. She has now completed several 10x10s and gave the rest of us the blueprint for a no-fail wardrobe. You can find a lot of inspiration on Instagram.
According to Style Bee's website, "The concept is essentially a micro capsule closet of 10 items that you work with for 10 days, trying new looks and styling your clothes in ways you might not otherwise try."
Choose 10 items that you already own in your closet
Create 10 different looks with these items
Wear these outfits over the next 10 days
Remember to have fun & stretch your creative muscles
WHAT IS INCLUDED?
Only the basics of an outfit are included in the 10 pieces
WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED?
All accessories would be excluded from the 10 pieces. So feel free to accessorize as much or little as you'd like. Shoes can even be moved to this category if you'd like to have more options.
MY 10X10 FORMULA
It may seem easy to create 10 outfits from just 10 items but I'll admit that it was much more difficult than I expected. I had to be honest about what feels comfortable and what I can actually see myself wearing again and again. Only then did the outfits start to come together.
Here is what I hope to accomplish with this exercise:
Get creative without buying more
Refine my curated style
Create outfits for every occassion
Discover the true can't-live-without pieces in my wardrobe
This is what I ended up with in my first 10x10 capsule...
2 Pairs of Shoes (1 heel + 1 flat)
Since this is a summer capsule, I didn't need to include any top layers especially in this 95+ degree weather. However, I am looking ahead to plan 10x10s that fit in outwear as well.
These are pieces that I really do wear all the time except the gingham dress. It is the one piece in this collection that I wanted to style the most because I only pull it out once or twice a year. As I mentioned in a previous post about wardrobe capsuling, I love my wardrobe and now I need to love styling it!
I am excited to start this challenge! I'll be sharing my outfits in the next several posts and over on my Instagram. So, follow along!
